PAY ATTENTION TO THIS

Two Energy Categories: (1) Energy Usage and (2) Energy Generated. In this home built by BluePaint Development, LLC utilizing Wally Walls, this home generated 2.5 times more energy than it used. Consider that the next time you build.

Truly, Truly Blessed

Wally Walls is truly blessed to work with great Developers, Contractors, Architects and Engineers. We attended a Topping Off Party yesterday at 730 N. Milwaukee, being built and developed by Tandem Construction. Couldn’t have had a better day and better people to work with. And, thank you Father Chris for blessing our walls!

Building Better With Combustible Structures

 Making Combustible Construction Better

If your goal is to build a structure solely with the cheapest materials, dismissing sound attenuation, energy costs and air quality, stop reading. If your goal is to build a cost effective structure that takes advantage of better materials that increases speed of construction, provides superior sound attenuation, reduces general conditions by virtually eliminating waste, then consider Wally Walls for your next structure.

The math is simple. On a linear basis Wally Walls will appear to cost 12.5% more than wood when substituting it for 2 x 6’s, OSB and a couple inches of spray foam. In a typical structure, light gauge framing will cost 15% of the overall budget. For example, on a project with a $1,000,000 budget you could expect the structural light gauge walls to cost $150,000, while wood costs would be around $131,750. Of course, that is only half of the discussion.  The benefits of using Wally Walls’ pre-engineered insulated structural walls outweighs the apparent slight material costs in the following ways:

1. Increased Speed of Construction.

2. Straight and Plumb Walls for Drywall.

3. Insulated Structure at Time of Erection.

4. Significant Reduction of General Conditions with Waste Elimination.

5. R Value of 31.8 vs. Wood at 21.

6. No Mold.

7. No Wood Boring Insects.

So, if you’re looking to squeeze six cents out of a nickel, we cannot help you. If you are looking to Build Better and maintain your budget and meet or beat your construction schedule, consider Building With Wally!

The Devil Is In The Details

Posted by David Wallach on Dec 18, 2018 10:23:46 AM

Ft. Mills Hotel Structurals Sheet 1.Section 8.15-page-001 (1)

The Devil Is In The Details

Building with light gauge is different than other structural materials. While engineers of record may design and detail poured in place or post tension structures, very few take on the scope of fully designing and detailing a cold form structure - hence the “by others” provisions found in the note section and details of most plans. This note is not just some “throw away game in Rochester” (sorry for the Miracle On Ice reference, but I have to throw some hockey references in from time-to-time or they take away my goalie card). Instead, it is the most important note on the page. How much your structure will cost and how easy it will be to construct is predicated on this design. Developers and contractors feeling comfortable with their numbers before completing this process are, candidly, just fooling themselves. Further, the market is not riddled with competent cold form steel engineers with the skills to provide great structural shop drawings. In fact, the opposite is true. So, while there are tremendous advantages in constructing with cold form steel, the only way to fully take advantage of the methodology is to perform the analysis up-front, before the bid process is complete, and to perform that exercise with those who know how to Build Better -like WALLY!

How To Build 4 Homes In The Winter In Maine

Start by first building them in a controlled climate (65 degrees or so) in Kenosha, WI. Then, assemble them on site after your foundations are in. Voila! Two homes on site here, two more being delivered this week.

Type I Personality - Type V Construction

 Type I Personality - Type V Construction

“Yes,” you can build better and still achieve cost savings by substituting non-combustible decking in projects 4 stories or less. This contractor chose Wally Walls for the exterior structure and interior structural walls and is utilizing wood tji’s and plywood for the decking. In this way, they get the speed of construction using Wally Walls’ modularly insulated walls and the value of a wood deck system. How do the two integrate - very well! Wally Walls is a conventionally framed insulated wall, ready to receive any type of specified decking. So, all you Type I personalities out there, DON’T STRESS OUT - it does not have to be an “all or nothing” affair. Build Better and take advantage of VE opportunities where you can.
